Are you planning a camping getaway trip away this Easter? It’s not too late to organise something. We’ve had a look at a few options for escaping the hustle and bustle.
Escape to the Coast
Going coastal is high on most people’s list for holiday time.
WYE RIVER
https://greatoceanroadparks.com.au/find-a-park/wye-river
There’s two caravan parks at Wye River, and they do book out fast. But you never know your luck! Once you are there, it’s a walk to the beach, walk to the river, walk to the cafe and walk to the pub. It’s an easy, breezy getaway.

Byron Bay is a balmy sun-kissed coastal town that is home to a healthy food scene, a number of must-visit beaches, a buzzing creative community, as well as being close to regional towns and rainforest hinterland to visit.
Bush retreats
If the bush is more your thing then there’s plenty of options for camping.
BUCHAN CAVES CAMPGROUND

After something a bit different this Easter? An exceptional experience is on offer to stay close to underground caves. Enjoy a cave tour in the morning and some wine and chocolate to treat yourself to the night staying amongst lush bushlands.
Situated in the Great Otway National Park – Blanket Bay Campground has access to a breathtaking beach and taps into the Great Ocean Road walking track. If you like snorkelling, then pack your mask and flippers because there’s lots of marine life to gander at.
Family-friendly
If there are little people joining your getaway, then it’s good to choose somewhere that has options to keep them busy, safe and happy.
WILSONS PROMONTORY

Interesting fact – Wilsons Prom is the southernmost tip of mainland Australia. Tidal River Campground is a super base for families as the waters are calmer for swimming or snorkelling. It’s also close to scenic walks.
PHILLIP ISLAND

If you’re after sandy beaches and sheltered swimming areas for your family this is the place. Plus there’s lots of dining out options to keep everyone full and satisfied for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
National parks
Parks offer a wide range of camping experiences from basic sites to those with added comforts.
GRAMPIANS NATIONAL PARK
https://www.parks.vic.gov.au/places-to-see/parks/grampians-national-park
Do you love to be surrounded and immersed in nature? Then the Grampians is for you! It offers a range of different camping grounds, and all of them are near hikes. It is also campervan and motorhome friendly, which is handy to remember.
KINGLAKE NATIONAL PARK
https://www.parks.vic.gov.au/places-to-see/parks/kinglake-national-park/where-to-stay/the-gums-campground
The Gums is a perfect camping spot if you like to be close to fresh water. Nestled in a tranquil forest next to a meandering mountain stream, this is a winner for families or small groups. There’s only 18 sites available, with five suitable for campervans.
The next thing to remember is pack your Easter essentials, and that includes:
- Jacket – as the weather, particularly in the evenings is starting to cool down
- Chocolate – that is a must, and in the form of eggs for a hunt
We hope you find somewhere to relax and spend time with family and friends. Hop (pun intended) into your campervan and enjoy time away.
