At Achtung Camper our motorhome bathroom is built to handle water with showering.
When you’re traveling in a motorhome, the bathroom is one of the hardest-working spaces inside the vehicle. It needs to cope with water, steam, humidity and regular use — often in a compact space where moisture can quickly become an issue if the wrong materials are used.
That’s why we take a different approach.
The bathroom walls in our motorhomes are constructed using high-quality marine-grade plywood, the same category of material trusted in boat building and other demanding wet environments. In fact, we use the same marine-grade plywood throughout our campervans and motorhomes.
The plywood is fully sealed as part of the bathroom construction, which results in a bathroom designed to give you confidence every time you turn on the shower.
Why Marine-Grade Plywood in our Motorhome Bathrooms?
Not all plywood is created equal.
Standard plywood can be vulnerable to moisture. If it is exposed to water, inferior materials can absorb moisture, swell or distort and individual layers can separate.
Marine-grade plywood is high-quality, knot-free panels built with waterproof A-bond glue and gap-free inner cores to resist rot and moisture. The waterproof adhesive helps maintain the integrity of the panel in wet and humid environments.
That’s exactly the sort of performance we want in an Achtung Camper bathroom.
Same Thinking in Boat Building
Think about the environment inside a boat.
Constant exposure to humidity. Water splashes. Changing temperatures. Wet surfaces. High expectations for durability.
Marine-grade plywood is widely used in boat building because the quality of the veneers and the waterproof adhesive used to bond them together help the panel withstand demanding moisture conditions.
So why use ordinary interior plywood in a motorhome bathroom when you can use a material designed for a much tougher environment?

One of the critical differences in marine-grade plywood is what’s happening between the layers.
Our plywood is manufactured from high-quality hardwood veneers bonded with waterproof glue.
That adhesive is designed to maintain the bond between the veneers when exposed to moisture, reducing the risk of adhesive failure and delamination.
It’s an important detail – because the strength and stability of plywood aren’t just about what you can see on the surface.
The construction inside the panel matters too.
Fully Sealed Shower Walls
Marine-grade plywood provides an excellent foundation, but there’s another important part of the Achtung Camper approach:
The shower walls are fully sealed.
Proper sealing prevents water from penetrating the timber and is essential when marine plywood is used in wet applications.
By combining marine-grade plywood with a fully sealed bathroom construction, we create a wet-area environment designed specifically for regular showering.
That means you can step into your Achtung Camper shower without worrying about the bathroom walls absorbing water and swelling like ordinary untreated timber.
No Compromise on Comfort or Construction
For us, it’s not enough for a motorhome bathroom to look beautiful when it’s brand new.
