Camping: The New Normal in Campervan Travel

Is anyone else having a hard time believing that it’s almost December?! After having spent a good amount of time at home in lockdowns, we’re itching for campervan travel around our beautiful country again!

As some of Australia begins to reopen, you might already be mapping out your next campervan trip. But with the new normal comes new things to consider before you hit the road.

Here is our list of the most important things to keep in mind when planning your next road trip.

Travel Requirements

If you’re travelling interstate, it’s best to check if there are any covid-related travel requirements in the state you’re heading to. Whether its a travel pass, vaccination status or negative test results – these are not things you want to have to think about last-minute.  Best to be prepared rather than surprised when you get to your destination.

Australian Traveller summarised everything you need to know about travelling interstate for the holidays in this great piece.

Activity Bookings

While we love the idea of hitting the road with very few plans and seeing where it takes us, for some destinations that may no longer be the best option. Many activity and excursion operators (not to mention restaurants!) now require advanced bookings due to new restrictions. Before you hit the road, have a quick Google of any activities you had in mind to see if you’ll need to arrange or pre-book.

New Items to Add to Your Packing List

These ones might be obvious by now, but don’t forget to add masks, hand sanitizer, and disinfectant wipes to your van before you head out! With restrictions easing further in some states, you might not always need these items. But it’s always better to have them than to be frantically searching for them last minute.

Keeping these three things in mind before you hit the road will make for a super smooth, worry-free trip. We are stoked for you to get back out and explore Australia!
